Classic Liberals Australia wants a small, focussed, secular and transparent government that adheres to individual liberty, separates State and the economy, and wants Australia to have the most prosperous people (the highest per capital GDP) and be the best place in the world to live and work and have an efficient and cost-effective judicial system that administers justice for all.
A Classic Liberals Australia government will repeal more laws and regulations than any other government in Australia’s history, provide the freest markets in the world, make Australia the most attractive destination for entrepreneurs and small businesses, treat voters as adults capable of making their own decisions, and through transparent government show that government represents, not rules over, voters and other Australians.
Classic Liberals Australia believes that government’s primary focus should be on protecting us from attack (keeping us safe) and protecting our property from damage and theft. The ambit of our current and successive governments in our recent past has been so wide that they lost sight of this core duty and so failed abysmally in performing that duty for us.
Classic Liberals Australia regards voters as adults who deserve to know the truth and can handle the truth and believes that transparency in government is vital. It is vital that the electorate can trust their government to act in their best interest. A government that does not treat its people with respect by disclosing information is not trustworthy. Also, hiding information from the electorate is a sure sign that government believes that it rules over, rather than represents, them.
Classic Liberals Australia will abolish all tariffs, subsidies and grants to public and privately owned companies. It will also repeal much of the Trade Practices Act, particularly in relation to competition laws and regulations, and substantially repeal financial services legislation and regulation.
Australia is proudly a multi-ethnic country that permits multiple religions as well as atheism. It is not and should not become multi-cultural. It is secular and should remain as such. The people of Australia should show tolerance for other religions and be tolerant of criticism. A Classic Liberals Australia government will not be tolerant of intolerance, and will not be tolerant of any who direct, advocate or wish harm on others or support or condone those who do. A Classic Liberals Australia government will require adherence to Judeo-Christian values and Australian laws, despite what any religion may accept.
The executive arm of government is to serve the people – do what is in the best interests of the people – to be fair, trustworthy, transparent, not to abuse their powers and to accept responsibility for their errors. While this is generally expected and included in legislation, it is in effect currently just empty rhetoric. Since it is not enforced, it is ignored. That needs to change. Public officials must be held to account. Classic Liberals Australia proposes that complaints against public officials to be considered by a jury – who will have the power to decide on the consequences for any public officials whose conduct is not up to standard. This will include the power to impose fines, imprison and fire them.
Classic Liberals Australia believes that to have a properly functioning democracy, the judiciary must be accountable to the people, must ensure that justice (fairness) is central to all judicial decisions, must ensure fair representation in matters between government bodies and either individuals or small businesses, must provide efficient and cost-effective access to justice and must ensure that public officials act honestly, adhere to the letter and spirit of the law, take responsibility for errors, and do not abuse their power. Our judiciary has been failing abysmally in that regard. Classic Liberals Australia will ensure that our judicial system undergoes a major overhaul and that judges are held to account. They are currently operating with effective immunity, so much so that senior judges are brazen enough to stoop to the depths of wilful dishonesty in their determination to find in favour of government, their paymaster. That is untenable!
Classic Liberals Australia wants individuals to be free to pursue their own life preferences (subject to not infringing on the rights of others) and accept the resulting consequences. Classic Liberals Australia expects government to treat adults as capable of making their own lifestyle decisions and rejects the notion of government acting as a “parent” to manage life’s risks. Classic Liberals Australia does not recognise group rights or responsibilities.
Classic Liberals Australia stands for freedom of speech (but not the right to incite violence), freedom of religion (including the freedom to criticise any religion) and freedom of movement and association. To Classic Liberals Australia it is essential that anyone of any religious faith should feel safe and comfortable everywhere in Australia – in or near any synagogue, mosque, temple, church, or any other gathering of people. Classic Liberals Australia has no tolerance of intolerance and will ensure that harsh treatment befalls those who are intolerant.
Classic Liberals’ aim is for Australia to have the freest markets in the world. This it believes is essential for us to prosper over the next few decades. Its aim in this regard is to separate State and the economy and ensure that Australia becomes the most attractive destination in the world for entrepreneurs and small businesses, which are engine of a successful economy.
In order for us to proper we need to retain and attract entrepreneurs, people intent on establishing and growing businesses. To attract these people, Australia needs to be a low tax environment. Also, our younger generation (young adults) have great difficulty saving enough money to buy a house, acquire a comfortable lifestyle, start a family and start or buy a small business, because they are subjected to onerous taxes – both direct and indirect. Classic Liberals Australia is intent on slashing both direct and indirect taxes, enabling people to retain significantly more of their income to spend or invests as they see fit.
Under a Classic Liberals Australia government there will be no DEI, or affirmative action policies, nor any gender, age, religion or cultural quotas and nor will any group of people be given preferential treatment by government or under law.
Classic Liberals Australia recognises that the main function of government is to protect its people and their property. In alignment with this, a Classic Liberals Australia government will be tough on crime and have a low tolerance for anti-social behaviour. While Classic Liberals Australia recognises that its priority must be the protection of its people and their property, Classic Liberals Australia also recognises that incarceration is expensive, a drain on society, so it is in society’s best interests to reduce the opportunities and temptation for crime and rehabilitate offenders to ensure they don’t re-offend.
A Classic Liberals Australia government will ensure that Australia is represented by one flag. It will impose tough penalties (10 years jail) on people who burn or desecrate our flag or wilfully damage or deface statues. A Classic Liberals Australia government will ensure that the people of Australia are clear on Australian values and will ensure they are reminded of the remarkable country we inherited and of our responsibility to pass on a much-improved country to the next generation. We all need to ensure that leave this country in a far better condition than it was when we arrived. People have come from all over the world to live here because it is a much more attractive place to live than the country they’ve left. We need to keep it that way.
Classic Liberals Australia would like to see farmland weaned off toxic fertilizers and biocides, farm animals weaned off antibiotics and other medication, and humans weaned off vaccinations and medication. Classic Liberals Australia does not however propose banning such use, nor imposing targets but proposes government funding research into the cause (or causes) of the major increases in chronic diseases and death, and into finding solutions, finding ways to deal with those causes.
On the one hand, Classic Liberals Australia believes that social welfare must be solely for those on ‘struggle street’ who are either incapable of working (through age or injury) or actively looking for work or retraining. On the other hand, Classic Liberals Australia believes that it is government’s responsibility to create a vibrant and diverse economy where many job opportunities and business opportunities exist for those looking for work.
Our relationships with other countries should focus on trade. We must resist the temptation to involve ourselves in the internal affairs of other counties and must do our best not to get caught up in conflict between other countries. It is however in our interests to have friends and just as we would expect them to come to our aid, we must be prepared to go to theirs. We will be stronger together than standing alone.
