What is your team’s plan to get us through this crisis? That’s right, it doesn’t have one, certainly not one that will deliver higher living standards for all of us.
This is likely to be the biggest challenge we will ever face as a nation, yet our government, bureaucrats and the rest of our political class are missing in action. They will no doubt continue bumbling along. When the crisis hits, they will most likely panic, increase taxes and digitally create a lot more money to provide a quick fix, but that will cause significant longer-term pain.
It is inevitable that huge numbers of white-collar jobs will be lost to Ai and huge numbers of blue-collar jobs will be lost to robotics. It is also inevitable that many new jobs will be created, but those opportunities will need a very different set of skills for those who have lost their jobs.
